YouTube is proving to be very troubling for some GOP candidates who continue to “out” their true political stances by way of old video footage of, well, themselves contradicting the positions they currently hold.

We’ve seen it with Governor Mitt Romeny and his positions on abortion and other social issues.

Today’s GOP candidate caught in the YouTube cross-hairs is former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Back in 1993, when Rudy Giuliani was making his second run for mayor, his strategists felt a need to soften his image and show that he wasn’t just the guy who would lead a group of racist policemen in yelling “Bullshit!” in front of City Hall. They came up with this ad (entitled “Gentle”) which featured then-wife Donna Hanover praising her husaband’s family values. As it turned out, he had so much love for family that he went and got a whole other one. Still, in light of recent developments, fun to watch!

It has been a little while since I last blogged here at DoubleSpeak. I have been busy moving, job hunting and re-acclimating to my life in our nation’s beautiful capitol city. However, I plan to increase the blogging in the coming weeks and months and we as a team hope to add some new faces to the blog team in the lead up to 2008.

There is an article from Cox Newspapers this morning on the marital status of the 2008 presidential candidates. When all is said and done, it seems that the party of family values (the Grand Ol’ Party) doesn’t really value their families too much.

The GOP has long touted itself as the party of family values, but its developing 2008 presidential field has recorded four divorces and one annulment, compared to three divorces among the Democrats.

Yeah, Democrats get divorced too, but you just have to love people like Rudy Giuliani (divorced twice) and Newt Gingrich (also twice divorced) who tout values and can’t seem to keep track of their own.

Will the hypocrisy ever end?

Rudy Giuliani, the moderate Republican maverick from NYC, gave a speech that sent shockwaves across the political world denouncing the far right wing of his party as “wing nut asses” who “are full of hate, corruption and who will lose at the hands of the more moderate and mainstream voices in the Democratic Party.”

Wait, hold on. Let me check something.

Ok, I was wrong. RUDY GIULIANI WENT TO GEORGIA TODAY TO CAMPAIGN FOR RALPH REED!

Reed is a close confidant and future shower play-friend with criminal lobbyist Jack Abramoff. In addition to his ties to scandal, Reed is considered by many (who listen to this show) to be a hateful bigot who is out of touch with real Americans.

I am prepared to make a bet with anyone that Giuliani will for any number of stated reasons “decide” that he changing his views on abortion before 2008. Thoughts?

I know children read this blog so I hate to cuss…but Giuliani is an ass.

The Rev. Jerry Falwell will not back former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R).

Everybody admires him. And I’ll never forget the great things he did on 9/11 and following. But, of course, we have, as conservative Christians who take the Bible seriously, we have probably irreconcilable differences on life and family and that kind of thing. I’ll never speak an ill word about him because he means so much to America. But, yes, you’re right. I couldn’t support him for president.

Sorry Rudy. Looks like you’re screwed. I didn’t know you were a fake Christian. I guess you learn something new everyday.

However, Jerry Falwell loves Sen. John McCain (R-AZ).

A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll shows former Republican mayor Rudy Giuliani leading the White House 2008 potential Republican contenders with 33% among Republican Registered Voters. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) is polling at 28%.

Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) leads potential Democrats with 39% among Democratic Registered Voters. Senator John Kerry (D-MA) is polling at 15%.

This poll means absolutely nothing. However, the race is on.
