“The only one I wouldn’t support is McCain. I don’t agree with him on hardly any issues. I don’t think he has the temperament and leadership ability to move the country in the right direction.”
– Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA), in an interview with The Politico, on the 2008 Republican presidential field.
John McCain doesn’t have the temperament to President of the United States. Rick, this will probably be the only time we ever agree. Don’t get used to it.
This morning, Rep. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) debated Sen. Mike DeWine (R-OH) on NBC’s Meet The Press moderated by Tim Russert.
I thought Brown did a great job taking on DeWine. He kept him on the defensive and painted him as ineffective. He also hammered the Senator on his negative campaign and there were times when DeWine couldn’t defend his own record. DeWine spent much of the debate ducking Russert’s questions.
TPMmuckraker just reported that the conservative backed and funded Green Party PA Senate candidate, Carl Romanelli is off the ballot. Ruling that too many of Romanelli’s signatures for his spot on the ballot were invalid, the judge has for all intents and purposes, ended this right wing distraction in Pennyslvania.
That strikes a deadly blow to Pennsylvania Republicans’ gambit to draw votes away from Democrat Bob Casey by fielding a Green candidate. As we reported earlier, all of Romanelli’s support was from conservative donors, and Sen. Rick Santorum’s (R-PA) volunteers worked hard gathering signatures to get Romanelli on the ballot. The Santorum campaign has admitted steering help toward the Romanelli campaign.
After Romanelli gathered almost 100,000 signatures to qualify, Democrats challenged the signatures’ validity. A court fight followed, and now a judge has found that the Greens are short almost 9,000 valid signatures from the 67,000 required by law.
If you haven’t seen Radical Rick Santorum’s new ad about Casey’s “jail inmate” campaign supporters, than you must. Please watch it below:
Ok, so this turns out to not be true. This quote come from WJAL, courtesy of Wonkette:
LANCASTER, Pa. — One of the latest campaign ads in Pennsylvania’s Senate race is getting a lot of attention. Some say it goes to far, but how true is it?
News 8 On Your Side government reporter Ben Simmoneau took a look as part of News 8’s AdWatch series.
We just finished a good interview with a grassroots organization here in Philly. They are doing lots of good work and we will bring that interview to you soon.
We’ve been talking to lots of people about Bob Casey and his campaign. There is lots of frustration around PA about Casey’s weak campaign and I sincerely hope Casey can pull this off.
Whenver he speaks it sounds like he’s on quaaludes. Could that be his strategy?
Headed home to finish packing and get ready to push off first thing Friday morning.
We’re still in downtown Philly- about to release Episode 10 on Net Neutrality. It’s been a great day- we were up at 6:00 AM to drive to Bristol, PA to interview Patrick Murphy.
We have been reaching-out to folks in New Jersey, Connecticut and beyond to book some great interviews. So far we’ve gotten a great reaction from the campaigns we’ve spoken to.
We are preparing for an interview with a political activist from downtown who’s going to talk to us about why Radical Rick Santorum is such a wacko.
Check out his latest ad. I have no idea how large the media buy is; I’m in Philly now and I haven’t seen the ad on TV. In fact, I don’t think Casey has been on air in the Philly market since he announced his candidacy.
