How do you sell a product that just isn’t any good? Just ask the people who marketed the Yugo…
John McCain is the director of marketing for a brand that is outdated and a product that needs an extended warranty in order to sell. For nearly a decade now, Republicans have ushered in a new era of corruption and incompetence and in doing so have lost the trust of the American people. John McCain of 2000 would be utterly disgusted and ashamed with the John McCain of 2008, and as the party of Reagan attempts to re-occupy the White House this year, they should look deep into their game plan and re-tool, because the GOP brand has been cheapened and it could be sitting on the discount rack soon.
(AKA King George) has defied the American people, the Congress and the world and has vetoed the Iraq supplemental spending bill which would give American troops on the battlefield much needed equipment and support.
A loyal DoubleSpeak reader emailed me this morning with a great idea. Since the Bush Administration and the GOP can’t seem to get it right at Walter Reed Medical Center, why don’t we, the American people send in the experts to fix up the aging veterans hospital. We’ll call the show: Extreme Makeover Hospital Edition.
No, I’m not talking about another lazy government contractor. I’m talking about…
I have a good friend who is a producer for the show. I am going to email her this idea stat.
Rep. “Mean” Jean Schmidt (R-OH) is one of the most horrible politicians in America. Based on this statement, it doesn’t seem that she respects our brave troops and our veterans at all. She needs to be defeated in 2008!
Check out her latest tirade on the scandal at Walter Reed Medical Scandal. Sick.
“I found the situation at Walter Reed to be overblown by both politicians and the media.”
– Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-OH), quoted by the Cincinnati Enquirer, on the living conditions at one of the nation’s main facilities for treating veterans wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“I think it is extremely disappointing that Senator Hagel would bring the entire state of Nebraska to a screeching halt by holding an elaborate ceremony to announce absolutely nothing. Nebraskans are tired of waiting for Chuck Hagel to make up his mind. He has been toying with the idea of running for President for several years. Nebraska deserves no less than two full-time representatives in the U.S. Senate. It is time for Chuck Hagel to come to a conclusion – does he want to represent the people of Nebraska – or run for President?”
Chuck Hagel (R-NE), declaring that he is in no way an “anti-war” candidate has just announced in Omaha, Nebraska that he will not announce whether or not he intends to run for President of the United States until later this year. He will keep his options open. This was a very weird press conference and DoubleSpeak will continue to follow the Hagel story as it unfolds.
YouTube is proving to be very troubling for some GOP candidates who continue to “out” their true political stances by way of old video footage of, well, themselves contradicting the positions they currently hold.
We’ve seen it with Governor Mitt Romeny and his positions on abortion and other social issues.
Today’s GOP candidate caught in the YouTube cross-hairs is former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
This video is from a Women’s Coalition for Giuliani event in 1989…Enjoy…
