The United Nations
has passed a resolution to create a UN peacekeeping force in Sudan’s Darfur region. The resolution calls for up to 22,500 U.N. troops and police officers and an immediate injection of air, engineering and communications support for the 7,000-member African force already in the region.

This is a good first step towars immediate civilian protection in Darfur. There are still many obstacles to overcome- most notably the President of Sudan’s steadfast oppposition to any “invading” forces. These, of course, are peacekeeping forces that could help immediately stop the raping of women and children in Darfur.
I know it seems like Darfur has been in the news for a long time and that things might seem solved- but the people are suffering WORSE today than they were a year ago and this is the greatest humanitarian crisis in the entire world today.
