South Dakota Senate outlaws most abortion
by a vote of 23 to 12. The bill bans all abortion except when the life of the mother is endangered and will almost certainly face a lawsuit in federal court on its likely way to the Supreme Court.

This is simply appalling. No provision for the woman’s physical health or mental health, only her life.
Forced to carry the product of rape, molestation and/or incest, the state of a woman’s mental health will continue to deteriorate, until suicide is the only option. Will they care about her life then? And will they care if after being forced to carry this particular child to term that she can never again bare children? What of her future children? What about those “innocent souls”?
What about the life of a child who grows up with a mother who hates them and abuses them as the constant reminder of that violation?
Will they go after the father for child support?
And when a child conceived in violence is given up for adoption (as is most likely the case), does that mean the perpetrator against his/her would have parental rights (presumably after serving time)?!
Are any of these lawmakers going to adopt these unwanted children?
And later, these poor kids will be tossed around from foster home to foster home. Many could be forced to grow up unloved, without a family, and when they discover the horrible truth about their beginnings, what will life be like for them then? What about QUALITY of life?
This has not been thought through to the end results, like so much else when religion mixes with politics. It starts with abstinence-only programs that leave people ignorant about protected sex, leading to unwanted pregnancies (let’s face it, people won’t stop having sex).
And with bans on abortion, unwanted pregnancies will invariably lead to 2 things:
1) Dead and maimed women who tried to terminate the pregnancy without the help of a Doctor (it happened a LOT before Roe v. Wade and it will happen again), or
2) Unwanted children.
And now they also want to ban certain groups of people from adopting orphans and abandoned children, starting with the GLBT community.
Conservatives are on the verge of creating an entire generation of unwanted, unloved and dysfunctional children who will grow to be dysfunctional adults.
Great going, guys.
